High school attended: Merrill High School

Current program or major: Business Management

Why did you choose UW-Marathon County? After serving in the U.S. Navy for six years, I knew I wanted the opportunity to go to school and be close to my family. The praise I heard about the faculty at UWMC and the price were too good to pass by.

What surprised you most about UW-Marathon County when you arrived on campus? The instructors made classes enjoyable. I’ve never wanted to go to class until now.

Why did you choose your program/major? I’ve had life experiences to point me in the right direction as far as choosing a business management degree.

What are you learning about your career field that you find interesting or rewarding? I’m learning just how vast the world of business can be and how many different (career) avenues there are to venture into.

In addition to being a college student, what takes up your free time? I choose to spend my free time on anything music related. I love to sing and plan to use my business degree in the music industry.

Who has been your favorite professor or staff member? Barry Liss would be my favorite professor. His classes bring larger meanings than the norm. I would say his Intro to Mass Communications class is more of a critical thinking class, and I couldn’t have been more thrilled to have taken it.

What do you plan to do after UW-Marathon County? I plan on transferring to UW-Madison and continuing my business degree.

What is one piece of advice you have for incoming UW-Marathon County students? Don’t be afraid to take a class you aren’t sure about. So far, the classes I’ve feared have been the ones I’ve enjoyed the most. Don’t be afraid to talk to your professors. They really are here with the goal of helping us in any way they are able.
