College is the perfect time to experience new things. As a student, you will discover your personal interests and learn what you truly enjoy doing. It’s easy to let this time in your life fly by, so don’t miss out on all of the fun things you can do. Use your time at UW-Marathon County to knock these five items off your college bucket list.

1. See a Concert at Marathon Park

No need to go far from campus for a study break. Marathon Park is right by campus. There you will find walking trails, tennis courts, and 2 baseball diamonds. They also have an amphitheater that hosts a range of events and concerts, with a seating capacity of 10,000. This is the perfect location to enjoy a beautiful day outdoors.

2. Dine Out at Market Place Thursdays

From June to September, downtown Wausau hosts Market Place Thursdays. There you will find local produce, food items and handmade goods from local vendors. It’s a great way to get to know the Wausau area. Bring some friends and be sure to come with an empty stomach!

3. Enjoy Fall Foliage at Rib Mountain State Park

Atop of the fourth tallest peak in Wisconsin, you can see a beautiful view of changing leaves in the autumn months. This large park has miles of hiking trails, an observation tower and areas to snowshoe. Come see woodland animals up close and other wonders of nature. Truly a one-of-a-kind spot to explore in Wausau.

4. Spend an Evening Downtown

Downtown is the hub of Wausau. Pay a visit to enjoy one of their many dining options, explore their cute shops and see live music at night. The River Edge Walkway spans along the Wisconsin River. A perfect spot for a stroll at sunset. Come see the culture downtown Wausau has to offer.

5. Sled at Sylvan Tubing Hill

Sylvan Tubing Hill is Wausau’s only tubing hill and a great place for some winter-time fun. From tubing to cross-country skiing and snowshoeing, there’s something for everyone. The best part is that they have a tow to pull you back up the hill after you go down one of their 6 tube runs. Need to warm up? Grab some hot chocolate or other food items at their concession stand. For a small fee, you can enjoy this fun community spot!

These five activities are a great start for any UW-Marathon County student interested in making the most of their time in college.
