The University of Wisconsin-Marathon County (UWMC) will hold its annual commencement ceremony at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 8 in the James F. Veninga Theater in the UW Center for Civic Engagement, 625 Stewart Ave., Wausau. More than 100 students earned two-year degrees from UWMC during the 2017-18 academic year, and many of these graduates will be participating in the ceremony.
Dave Eckmann, president and chief executive officer of the Wausau Region Chamber of Commerce, will give the commencement address. He has over 25 years of cumulative experience in business, higher education, and economic development and has an interesting perspective on the importance of life-long learning in the 21st century global knowledge economy. He attended Arizona State University, earning a bachelor’s degree in political science and a master’s in public administration. Eckmann completed his doctorate in higher education leadership from Edgewood College in August 2017
Christina Ireland and Adam Hinz and will give the student addresses.
A reception for graduates and their families will be held in Sonnentag Hall immediately following the ceremony.
