Matt Greenberg enters his eighth year as head coach of the University of Wisconsin – Marathon County Husky volleyball program in the fall of 2015. Greenberg returns after having led the 2014 team to their third Wisconsin Collegiate Conference (WCC) Tournament State Championship in six years; sixth divisional crown in seven years; and, an overall record of 25-2. The Huskies will enter the 2015 season looking to continue their seven-year undefeated streak at home against conference schools.
The 2014 team won many individual honors, too. The Huskies had four players: Morgan Wirkus (1st Team); Hanna Doughty (1st Team); Krissy Schreier (1st Team); Kayla Zagrzebski (2nd Team); Jakki Farmer (2nd Team) earn All-Conference awards, including Player of the Year (Wirkus); Defensive Player of the Year (Schreier); and, Setter of the Year (Wirkus). Wirkus and Doughty were also named to the WCC State All-Tournament Team. Coach Greenberg claimed his third Coach of the Year award.
During Greenberg’s seven seasons at UWMC, the Huskies have a regular and postseason record of 138-26-6 and have won at least a share of the Western Divisional Championship each year. In addition to the volleyball program’s athletic success, the players have made the Dean’s List 25 times.
Prior to his arrival at UWMC in 2007, Greenberg coached volleyball in the Madison, Wis. area at local high schools and with Junior Olympic clubs and summer camps. He received his master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis from UW-Madison and earned his bachelors’ degree from UW-La Crosse, majoring in Business Administration and Public Administration.
Greenberg also works at UWMC as a student activities coordinator and academic advisor.
