Who Can Take Honors Classes?

  • Continuing UWMC students:
    • Any student who is given permission by the instructor to join the honors class, OR
    • UWMC students who have earned a 3.5 GPA or higher after one semester of college.
       
  • New UWMC students:
    • Any student who is given permission by the instructor to join the honors class, OR
    • New students who graduate in the top 15% of their high school class or with an ACT score of 27 or higher may be advised to join honors classes upon entrance.

Why Take Honors Classes?

  • Be challenged by your peers as well as your instructors.
  • Build relationships with faculty.
  • Be eligible for honors scholarships (with credit and gpa requirements met)
  • Transfer of honors credit or into honors programs:
  • UWMC honors students transferring to University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire will get automatic admission to the UW-Eau Claire university Honors program and the honors courses done at UWMC will count as Honors Courses in the university honors program.
  • UWMC honors students may also apply for transfer of honors credits toward honors programs at UW-Oshkosh, UW-Stout, UW-River Falls, and others.
